Message in a Memory Card
Very similar to photochaining, the Message in a Memory Card project is potentially more meaningful in its intent.
Using the same basic practices, the photos used for the Message in a Memory Card project contain actual messages that are photographed (whereas photochaining basically just asks you to take interesting photos, which may or may not have an intrinsic message to them).
For example, you could write a message on your mirror after a steamy shower and take a picture of that. You could write something in wet cement and take a picture of that (the road workers love it, trust me
). I guess you could just make an image file with text using your computer’s paint program, but that doesn’t sound quite right to me. Even taking a picture of your message on a monitor while you’re playing at an online casino USA sounds a little more creative than that.
Okay, good enough to start with. The actual message is up to you — it can be something personal, something inspirational, something about online slots, something that you’ve always wanted to say, something you’ve always wanted to admit. The sweet part is that the person who finds the memory card is not the person who creates the message, so there’s no connection whatsoever- you’re totally anonymous.
The messages already posted run the gamut from bland semi-profundities to achingly poignant statements that you’d only ever make from the comfort of anonymity.
In this way, the Message in a Memory Card project is similar to the PostSecret project (which, unless I run out of space, I’ll discuss on another page…along with geocaching and all the other things that I want to get to! Oh, the demands upon my time LOL).
The Message in a Memory Card website is even smart enough to have a failsafe: when you submit the message that you’ve found, you also let the website know where you left your card. This may reduce the chance of a broken chain!
